The first step backwards
LANSING -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm will sign into law a bill requiring Michigan abortion providers to give a pregnant woman the option of viewing ultrasound images of her fetus before performing an abortion, according to her spokeswoman.
This law will require that during a pre-abortion ultrasound, a woman must be asked if she would like to see the "fetus", a still photo will be taken and offered to the woman regardless of the circumstances that led to her impregnation. Incest, rape, no matter.
Imagine feeling pressured to view your rapist's handiwork.
I imagine that Gov. Granholm is feeling tremendous pressure with the coming election to gain supporters. The state of the economy in Michigan has suffered long and hard under republican laws, constraints, and policies leaving our manufacturing base vulnerable to being overrun by other nations. Please, before it's too late this morning call Gov. Granholm's office to tell her what you think of this legislation. Ask her to please not forget her core constituents.
To let Gov. Jennifer Granholm know what you think about the bill, you can contact her at http://www.michigan.gov/gov, (click on "Contact the Governor" and then "Share Your Opinion") or call 517-373-3400. You can also fax 517-335-6863 or write to P.O. Box 30013, Lansing 48909.
