Audience members escorted out of Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., campaign event in Cedar Falls questioned why they were asked to leave Sunday’s rally even though they were not protesting.
...
“I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I’m a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn’t look right,’” Elborno said. “They were handpicking these people and they had nothing to go off of, besides the way the people looked.”
Elborno said while she has protested at events before, no plans were discussed beforehand for a protest and she shouldn’t have been taken out because she was not causing a disturbance.
“If I had been disruptive, then I would have deserved to be taken out,” Elborno said. “But at the time I was asked to leave, I wasn’t doing anything.”
Elborno said she’s stunned at how the situation was handled, especially McCain’s staffers’ refusal to discuss the matter.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” she said.
Despite repeated attempts, McCain’s campaign could not be reached for comment.

Keith's Campaign comment.
And it is one thing -- one stupid, cataclysmic thing -- to try to slime your opponent because of his relationship with some guy, only to then find out that your own candidate has a stronger relationship with that guy.
But this graduates to the level of fatal political malpractice when the ultimate result of your effort to slime your opponent, is to in fact draw a parallel between your candidate, and William Ayers. The huffing, puffing, panicky McCain noise machine has really done it this time.
John McCain, and William Ayers, both gave money to this man Rashid Khalidi. Senator McCain, you may want to get a pad and pencil here and write all this down.
I'm actually going to agree with William Kristol, when he wrote in the New York Times, that you should fire your entire campaign staff.
In three short steps, while trying to link Senator Obama to Rashid Khalidi... they have instead linked you to Rashid Khalidi...and Bill Ayers.
10-30-08: On The Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer while discussing the Liddy Dole ad against Kay Hagen, asks Donna Brazile and Bill Bennett if it's alright for candidates to be associating with athiests.
Wolf Blitzer: And this just coming into the "Situation Room," the Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin now speaking out openly about her intentions in 2012 if, if she and John McCain were to lose this contest next Tuesday. In an interview with ABC News, Sarah Palin is now saying, she would be interested in remaining a serious national political figure, going ahead to 2012. She was asked what happens in 2012 if you lose on Tuesday, would you simply go back to Alaska? Elizabeth Vargas of ABC News asked her and Palin said this, and I will read it to you verbatim according to an ABC News transcript: Absolutely not, Sarah Palin says. I think that, if I were to give up and wave a white flag of surrender against some of the political shots that we've taken, that ... that would ... bring this whole ... I'm not doin' this for naught, and that is a direct quote from Sarah Palin. Clearly, leaving open the possibility that she would be interested in leading the Republican Party in 2012 if she and John McCain were to lose this presidential contest right now. Let's go to Dana Bash. She has been covering the McCain campaign reaction from the rather blunt statement from Sarah Palin that she would in fact be interested in leading the Republican Party going forward after Tuesday if they lose?
Dana Bash: I just got off of the phone, Wolf, with a senior McCain adviser and I read this person the quote and I think it is fair to say that this person was speechless. There was a long pause and I just heard a huh on the other end of the phone. This is certainly not a surprise to anybody who has watched Sarah Palin that she is interested in potentially future national runs, and she is being urged to by a lot of people inside of the Republican Party if they do lose, but it is an if and people inside of the McCain campaign do not want any discussion that has an if in front of it six days before the election, they dont want any discussion at all, any kind of hypothetical talk about running for the next time around. So certainly, this is not at least initially being received well inside of the McCain campaign.
Wolf Blitzer: I am not surprised, not surprised at all. It is one of those wow, she is talking about 2012 if we lose, that is not supposed to be something that you say. You are supposed to say, well, Im not looking ahead, Im not looking ahead only to Tuesday, and those are the talking points shes supposed to be saying, but she is obviously blunt and she is looking ahead if something were to happen on Tuesday that she wouldnt be happy with.

TRANSCRIPT: CHRIS MATTHEWS: Mr. Delay are you happy with the tone of the Republican campaign? Phrases like "Socialist", "communist", "Anti-American" all kinds of stuff being thrown at Barack Obama. Is it right, is it fair, is it smart?
TOM DELAY: Absolutely it is, I wish McCain would be a little more assertive to be honest with you. I think what's gonna win this is when people get to the polls, they just can't bring themselves to vote for a radical like Obama, its Déjà vu all over again, hes more to the left than Gore or John Kerry put together and the American people are starting to realize that. And thats what I think McCain oughta be focusing on, not that Obamas not ready, Hillary Clinton tried that. Its that he is too radical for the American people.
MATTHEWS: Where would you put him on that spectrum between- well, youre using words like socialist, youre[]happy, I guess okay with words like communist. We had somebody on this show the other day who said he oughta be checked out for being Anti-American. Where would you put him? You think hes anti-American in his values?
DELAY: Chris, I tagged him as a Marxist months ago, particularly when you look at his relationship with Jeremiah Wright, his relationship with William Ayers. Its not that Wright makes outrageous sermons, its that Jeremiah Wright is a black, liberation theology preacher. And twenty years of association means that he must agree with the Marxist theology of black liberation theology. Same with William Ayers, its not that hes a terrorist, its that this guys so anti-American he wants to completely destroy America and build a new America[..]

Two white supremacists allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and ultimately targeting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, federal authorities said Monday.
In all, the two men whom officials describe as neo-Nazi skinheads planned to kill 88 people — 14 by beheading, according to documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.
The spree, which initially targeted an unidentified predominantly African-American school, was to end with the two men driving toward Obama, "shooting at him from the windows," the court documents show.
"Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt," the court complaint states. "Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt."
What do you say in response to hatred of such a magnitude?

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- College senior Kyla Berry was looking forward to voting in her first presidential election, even carrying her voter registration card in her wallet.
But about two weeks ago, Berry got disturbing news from local election officials.
"This office has received notification from the state of Georgia indicating that you are not a citizen of the United States and therefore, not eligible to vote," a letter from the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections said.
But Berry is a U.S. citizen, born in Boston, Massachusetts. She has a passport and a birth certificate to prove it. Video Watch some of the concerns of voting experts »
The letter, which was dated October 2, gave her a week from the time it was dated to prove her citizenship. There was a problem, though -- the letter was postmarked October 9.
"It was the most bizarre thing. I immediately called my mother and asked her to send me my birth certificate, and then I was like, 'It's too late, apparently,' " Berry said.
Berry is one of more than 50,000 registered Georgia voters who have been "flagged" because of a computer mismatch in their personal identification information. At least 4,500 of those people are having their citizenship questioned and the burden is on them to prove eligibility to vote.
Experts say lists of people with mismatches are often systematically cut, or "purged," from voter rolls.
It's a scenario that's being repeated all across the country, with cases like Berry's raising fears of potential vote suppression in crucial swing states.
"What most people don't know is that every year, elections officials strike millions of names from the voter rolls using processes that are secret, prone to error and vulnerable to manipulation," said Wendy Weiser, an elections expert with New York University's Brennan Center for Justice.
I'm afraid we're all going to have to fight tooth and nail for our votes to count this time. No more repeats of 2000, and 2004.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee publishes, mails out creepy 'kids' books
Talk about an ugly Senate race in Minnesota! Who do you think the repugs hoped would look through these creepy, cartoonish mailers?
I've seen a lot of nasty, bogus mail-outs this campaign season, but this one geared towards children really pisses me off. I'd say shame on the RNC, but, well, pointless that is.
10-26-08: The panel on This Week discussing what McCain needs to do to pull out this election and apparently the last argument they feel he or any of the Republicans has left is fear of lack of a divided government. It amazes me that these talking heads in the media didn't have this mortal fear when the Republicans had control of everything. After admitting that the Republicans are losing the independents and the middle George Will makes this observation near the end of the discussion:
"The need to Sen. McCain to rally the base and appeal to the base, first of all even though the base is as you said in the earlier segment much smaller than it was then, was implicit in the numbers from 2006, in 2006 Republican candidates in the off year elections got more votes from Evangelical Christians than Democratic got from African Americans and labor union members combined. Evangelical Christians by....(crosstalk)..I'm just telling you..that base is not just the base. It is almost the Republican party."

After asking the panel if Sarah Palin is a drag on the ticket or not and having them agree that she is a drag on the ticket and not bringing in independent voters, Matthews asks if Palin is likely to run in 2012 and the panel think she will and John Heilemann says she's the most popular person in the Republican party right now and thinks that she could win the nomination the next time around. I don't know how popular she's going to be if she gets blamed for McCain losing or how they could think she's a likely candidate after admitting she has harmed the ticket.
In ACORN'S Michigan office, employees are baffled by what they call an "aggressive" attack on their organization. The community organization, whose goal during the election cycle is to register as many voters as possible, refutes claims that fraudulent voter registration cards have an affect on the election.
"With less than two weeks left in the presidential contest, Barack Obama continues to hold a commanding double-digit lead over John McCain according to the latest NEWSWEEK Poll. Among registered voters nationwide, Obama now leads McCain by 13 points, 53 percent to 40 percent. Among likely voters, Obama's lead is similarly strong, 53 percent to 41 percent.
Obama's lead in the NEWSWEEK Poll is consistent with other recent national polls, including soundings taken by CBS News and The New York Times, The Washington Post and ABC News, NBC News and The Wall Street Journal and by Pew Research, all of which measured Obama's lead over McCain as somewhere between 10 and 14 points. In the NEWSWEEK Poll, Obama's lead stayed virtually unchanged from two weeks ago, when he led McCain 52 to 41 among registered voters. (For the complete results, click here.)"

If there's one thing both the McCain and Obama campaigns agree on it's that the election will be close in Florida. The McCain campaign says it has more volunteers than the Democrats and that ultimately gives them the edge. McCain's Central Florida Campaign Manger says ACORN and the Democrats have to rely on paid workers.
However, the McCain campaign is hiring paid workers who sometimes also call themselves volunteers. The UpTake's Sam Mayfield talked to a few of them... and that's when one McCain campaign worker decided you shouldn't see what is going on and threatened to have her arrested.

Michael Moore on a Potential President Palin: "What's risky is electing a vice president that none of us know. ... You have to walk into that booth knowing that you're potentially voting for President Palin. Would you turn your kids over -- like if you were going away on a trip -- would you just, like, drop the kids off at somebody you've known for only seven weeks? And if you love your country -- I mean if you LOVE your country -- why would you turn something that you love so much over to someone you've known for seven weeks?"
Michael Moore on the "Ownership Society" Scam and Bailout: "The wealthy that have been calling the shots here for so long, their party has been in power for 20 of the last 28 years -- the Republican party -- and I think that they know that they're probably on their way out ... they're like guests at a dinner trying to steal the silverware on their way out the door. ... Everything that's going on right now, all the hiring that the Treasury Department is doing, all the consultants they're bringing in, all the million dollar contracts -- these people are just going to get rich over and over again as they try to pull themselves out of a mess that they created because it was one big check-kiting scheme: Using money they didn't have to buy other money to make more money. SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There was major political theater involving President Bush's former chief of staff Karl Rove. A protestor tried to arrest Rove for treason Tuesday morning while he was speaking at the Mortgage Bankers Association Convention, continuing in San Francisco.
There were three protests during a very lively back and forth between former senate majority leader George Mitchell and Karl Rove. Rove blamed the Democrats for everything wrong with the economy.
A protestor tried to smack handcuffs on Karl Rove, but Rove slapped back, and the woman was taken off stage.
Cafferty: Why Do Citizens in 70 Countries Prefer Obama?
From the Cafferty File 10-21-08:
Senator John McCain says when it comes to foreign policy hes light years ahead of Barack Obama. Over and over again, McCain has insisted Obama lacks the necessary experience to conduct business with foreign countries on behalf of the United States.
So how do you explain this?
Citizens of dozens of foreign countries prefer Barack Obama over John McCain as our next president by a margin of almost 4 to 1, according to a massive poll conducted by the Gallup Organization. About 30 percent of those surveyed prefer Obama, while just 8 percent favor McCain.
This was no daily tracking poll either. Gallup polled people in 70 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and North and South America, representing nearly half the worlds population, between May and September of this year.
Citizens of the Philippines and Georgia were the only ones who preferred McCain to Obama. Not exactly the super-powers were looking to mend fences with.
Heres my question to you: Why do citizens in 70 foreign countries prefer Barack Obama to John McCain by a margin of nearly 4-1?
Interested to know which ones made it on air?
Justin from North Carolina writes: Barack Obama is the candidate of reason. Only a fool would think of supporting the ticket with the oldest presidential nominee and a woefully inept vice presidential candidate are in the best interest of America or the world especially when the current disaster of a president proves to be more coherent than the both of them.
Kevin writes: They prefer him because hes a patsy and they know hes going to pander to them. Kennedy was on medication during meetings with Khrushchev and Khrushchev called him a pygmy. No fear whatsoever. Good thing Kennedy did stand up to him during the Cuban missile crisis. Obama needs some testosterone shots. Putin, Chavez, the Castros, the Girl Scouts of Chinaanybody could chew him up, push him around, and spit him out.
F.S. from Rollinsford, N.H. writes: Jack, just to let you know that from my wifes and my visit to Europe for 3 weeks just recently, we couldnt find anyone in 4 countries that wanted McCain for President. They all think he is warmonger and that Palin is a joke. Do they know something we dont?
Jackie writes: To be fair, I think McCains negativity rests with the R after his name. He is a decent man who, because of his age and knowing this is his last chance, sold his soul to the Republican National Committee.
Mike writes: Its simple. It may sound racist, but its really not. Foreign countries are tired of old white men bossing them around and looking down on them. They finally see someone who will respect & approach them as equals.

"I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said such things as, 'Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.'
"Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim; he's a Christian. He's always been a Christian.
"But the really right answer is, 'what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?' The answer's 'no,' that's not America.
"Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president?
"Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, 'He's a Muslim and he might be associated terrorists.' This is not the way we should be doing it in America.
"I feel strongly about this particular point because of a picture I saw in a magazine. It was a photo essay about troops who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery, and she had her head on the headstone of her son's grave. And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone. And it gave his awards -- Purple Heart, Bronze Star -- showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death. He was 20 years old.
"And then, at the very top of the headstone, it didn’t have a Christian cross; it didn't have the Star of David; it had crescent and a star of the Islamic faith. And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, and he was an American. He was born in New Jersey. He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he can go serve his country, and he gave his life."

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly ill 85-year-old grandmother, his spokesman said.
Robert Gibbs told reporters Monday that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious."
Obama was expected to resume campaigning on Saturday, though Gibbs was unsure where.
At a John McCain rally in Woodbridge, Virginia, three people handed out "Obama for Change" bumper stickers with the Communist sickle and hammer and the Islamic crescent, saying Obama was a socialist with ties to radical Islam. Several moderate McCain supporters, Muslim and Christian alike, struck back.
